Overview

Are you a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to build your expertise in software testing and development? We\'re looking for a Junior Test Engineer (Software) to join our Ottawa-based team. In this role you\'ll support the development of automated test systems and tools used in both design verification and manufacturing environments.

You\'ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams — engineering, production, and quality — to ensure our high-tech products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your technical skills in a hands-on supportive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support the design and development of test systems for product validation and manufacturing.
  • Contribute to software specifications and requirements for testing tools and applications.
  • Define and execute software component integration tests; identify test configurations and document results.
  • Develop and maintain automated test software and infrastructure tools to increase testing efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues related to product functionality and testing.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure testability and manufacturability of products.
  • Analyze test data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement. Prepare and maintain clear technical documentation on testing processes and system designs.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 0-3 years of experience in test engineering or a related field
  • Experience in software development using languages such as CVI, C, C#, LabView, SQL, TestStand, Python
  • Knowledge of machine learning or artificial intelligence concepts
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
  • Exposure to automated testing frameworks and techniques.
  • Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators).
  • Understanding of electronic circuits and schematics.
  • Experience with environmental stress screening (ESS) or hardware reliability testing.
  • Project management familiarity (MS Project, JIRA, SPC).
  • Knowledge of machine learning or AI concepts is a plus.
