Junior Software Engineer

Job Description

Peakhill Capital is a commercial real estate capital provider with mortgage investments across all real estate asset classes in Canada. Our equity platform (Peakhill Equity Partners) is an opportunistic equity platform focused on investments in ground up and value-add projects in Canada and the United States. We are seeking a self-motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team in Toronto.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop clean/maintainable code and maintain internal Web-app using TypeScript/Node.js applications with Next.js App Router and React
• Contribute to frontend development using Tailwind CSS
• Write and maintain Python-based Lambda functions
• Integrate with third-party APIs and services
• Assist in debugging and troubleshooting production issues and participate in code reviews
• Document code and technical decisions

The candidate may need to be available outside business hours when issues arise or to meet deadlines.

Qualifications/Skills & Knowledge

• Bachelor's in Software Engineering, or related field
• Experience in React
• Relevant certifications (AWS, TypeScript, etc.) are a plus
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Thrives under pressure and enjoys contributing to team goals with ability to manage multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
• Advanced level user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
• Passion for real estate combined with an understanding of financial analysis
