Job summary

  • Familiarity with QA concepts focusing on test automation and performance frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, JMeter)
  • Basic programming experience in JavaScript, Python, PHP or similar languages
  • Basic understanding of API testing and interest in learning tools like Postman, Bruno, or similar
  • Exposure to databases or coursework in SQL, data validation techniques
  • Awareness of SDLC and agile development
  • Knowledge of university policies and standards for software development
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing programs
  • Analytical skills to diagnose and repair issues
  • Ability to learn emerging technologies and communicate technical concepts
  • Bilingualism English and French (spoken and written)

Note: We are recruiting for one 12-month contract and one 10-month contract.

Position Purpose Reporting to the Lead Technical Designer, the incumbent develops new or enhances existing and off-the-shelf computer applications based on software requirements. Assigned small projects of limited duration or may participate in a designated portion of a larger project under supervision. Focused on meeting user needs and improving the efficiency of the University’s operations through system and software solutions.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:
  • Analysis: Evaluates client’s business and functional requirements to fully understand their needs. Focuses on solutions to improve systems and automation.
  • Design: Designs, plans and coordinates effective software using appropriate tools and operating systems facilitating the function of the various departments, to increase their efficiency and productivity, and to reduce costs.
  • Development, Testing and Documentation: Develops effective program code, tests and provides documentation for new releases or application upgrades. Translates specifications document into effective program code. Assists in the provision of user documentation.
  • Deployment: Participates in the installation of new software in alignment with established procedures and processes, and the integration the final product to existing software.
What you will bring:
  • College degree in Computer Programming or university degree in Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0-3 years of experience in the development and implementation of system or software programs.
  • Familiarity with QA concepts focusing on the test automation and performance frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, JMeter etc.).
  • Basic programming experience in JavaScript, Python, PHP or similar languages, with a strong desire to learn and develop skills further.
  • Basic understanding of API testing and interest in learning tools like Postman, Bruno, or similar.
  • Exposure to databases or coursework in SQL, data validation techniques.
  • Awareness of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.
  • Understanding of agile development principles and interest in working within agile teams.
  • Knowledge of University policies, guidelines and standards regarding system and software development and deployment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing programs.
  • Analytical skills to diagnose debug and repair programming issues.
  • Ability to proactively keep abreast of new/emerging technologies.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to users.
  • Bilingualism English and French (spoken and written).
