Langara College is seeking a Junior Research Assistant to support the Applied Research Centre. The role involves data collection, documentation, and assisting the research team with analysis and reporting under supervision.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of post-secondary study in a related field, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This casual, 0.35 FTE position offers hybrid work arrangements and access to Langara’s

• Completion of minimum of one (1) year of post-secondary studies related to the field of inquiry.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine data gathering activities as directed by research supervisor or other research team members.
• Accurately and consistently records results or transcriptions and procedures.
• Provides assistance to the research team, for example, records notes, describes observations, supplies reminders.
• Collects experimental data/software performance
• Compiles data for reports and presentations
• Gathers literature or other resources as directed by supervisor
• Conveys information about the working environment including when supplies are running low.
• Operates advanced scientific equipment/software/survey tools with direction.
• Offer students assistance with performing data gathering activities as directed by supervisor or other research team members.
• Maintain safe work environment
• Performs other related project duties as assigned.
