Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Junior Radiation Physicist to contribute to CANDU plant design and life-cycle activities. You will perform radiation transport analyses, dose calculations, and coding tasks to support safe, reliable nuclear projects in a regulated environment.

You will document work, prepare technical reports, and present results to stakeholders while growing skills in MCNP/SCALE/ADDAM and related tools within a hybrid Canadian workplace.

Qualifications

  • A relevant honors degree in Physics, Engineering Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform technical analyses using radiation transport codes, dose calculations, and activity transport models.
  • Document, review, and verify analytical work in accordance with procedures, guidelines, and standards.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports that effectively summarize complex information.
  • Present technical results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collate, assimilate, and summarize results from existing analyses.
  • Develop, adapt, and modify computer codes for specialized applications and emerging technical challenges.
  • Support engineering and nuclear projects related to plant design, operations, refurbishment, waste management, and decommissioning.

Overview

Join AtkinsRéalis' Fuel and Physics team and help advance the future of nuclear engineering and innovation. As a Junior Radiation Physicist, you will contribute to the design of new CANDU nuclear power plants and support the operation, refurbishment, waste management, and decommissioning activities of existing nuclear facilities. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will apply technical expertise to projects that support safe, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions.

Your Role
  • Plan and perform technical analyses using radiation transport codes, dose calculations, and activity transport models.
  • Document, review, and verify analytical work in accordance with applicable procedures, guidelines, and standards.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports that effectively summarize complex information.
  • Present technical results to internal and external stakeholders.

About You
  • A Relevant honors degree from a university of recognized standing in Physics, Engineering Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Physics, Engineering Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in radiation transport modelling, shielding analyses, dose calculations, activity transport, or dispersion modelling.
  • Proficiency in radiation transport and analysis codes such as MCNP, SCALE, ADDAM, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to program using languages such as Python, PERL, MATLAB, C++, or Fortran.
  • Ability to work within a regulated nuclear environment and willingness to be designated as a Nuclear Energy Worker.
