Job summary

PTW Energy Services is seeking a Junior Quality Control Inspector to join our manufacturing team in Calgary. You will report to the Quality Manager and help ensure structural fabrication meets quality, safety, drawing, welding, and project requirements.

The role suits someone with CWB Level 1 certification and a background in welding, fitting, fabrication, or quality control who is eager to build a career in quality inspection.

Qualifications

  • CWB Level 1 Welding Inspector certification or CSA W178.2 familiarity.
  • Proven ability to perform inspections and document results.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality inspections throughout fabrication and upon completion.
  • Monitor welding activities and verify temperatures.
  • Complete visual and dimensional inspections per drawings and WPS/WPDS.

JUNIOR QUALITY CONTROL (QC) INSPECTOR
Quality Control Level 1 Inspector

PTW is looking for a Junior Quality Control (QC) Inspector to join our manufacturing team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you'll play an important role in ensuring our structural fabrication work meets quality, safety, drawing, welding, and project requirements.

This is a great opportunity for someone with CWB Level 1 certification and a background in welding, fitting, fabrication, or quality control who is looking to build their career in quality inspection.

DAY IN THE LIFE…

As a Junior QC Inspector, you will:

  • Conduct quality inspections throughout the fabrication process and upon completion.
  • Perform material verification, joint preparation and fit-up inspections.
  • Monitor welding activities and verify preheat and interpass temperatures.
  • Complete visual inspections of finished welds.
  • Perform dimensional inspections and verify work meets applicable drawings, WPS/WPDS, ITPs, and project requirements.
  • Verify fabrication is completed in accordance with applicable CSA standards and project specifications.
  • Identify deficiencies and non-conformances and ensure they are properly documented and addressed.
  • Complete inspection reports, documentation, and quality records accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate, compile, and maintain project quality documentation.
  • Execute inspections and sign-offs in accordance with the Inspection Test Plan (ITP).
  • Support the Quality Control program and ensure requirements are completed within established timelines.
  • Work collaboratively with fabrication, welding, project, and quality teams while also being comfortable working independently.
  • Follow all PTW Health and Safety policies and applicable Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • CWB Level 1 Welding Inspector - CSA W178.2,
  • Journeyman Welder and/or Fitter experience is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of CWB requirements and applicable welding standards.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing project information and preparing reports.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also working independently.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and solving problems.
TICKETS & REQUIREMENTS
  • CSA-approved safety boots.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable personal transportation - this location is not accessible by public transit.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
