Job summary

PTW Canada is seeking a Junior Quality Control Inspector to join our fabrication team. You will perform inspections throughout the fabrication process, verify welding, preheat and interpass temperatures, and ensure drawings, welding procedures, ITPs, and project specs are met.

Ideal candidates hold CWB Level 1 certification and have background in welding, fitting, fabrication, or quality control, and you can document non-conformances and inspection reports with accuracy.

Qualifications

  • CWB Level 1 certification or higher is required or highly preferred.
  • Experience with welding, fitting, fabrication, or quality control is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing project information.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality inspections throughout fabrication and upon completion.
  • Perform material verification, joint prep and fit-up inspections.
  • Monitor welding activities and verify preheat and interpass temperatures.
  • Complete visual inspections of finished welds.
  • Perform dimensional inspections and verify drawings, WPS/WPDS, ITPs, and project requirements.
  • Verify fabrication aligns with CSA standards and project specs.
  • Identify deficiencies and non-conformances; document and address them.
  • Complete inspection reports and quality records on time.
  • Coordinate and maintain project quality documentation.
  • Execute inspections and sign-offs per the ITP.
  • Support the Quality Control program and timelines.
  • Collaborate with fabrication, welding, project, and quality teams; also work independently.
  • Follow PTW Health and Safety policies and OHS regulations.

JUNIOR QUALITY CONTROL (QC) INSPECTOR
Quality Control Level 1 Inspector

PTW is looking for a Junior Quality Control (QC) Inspector to join our manufacturing team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you'll play an important role in ensuring our structural fabrication work meets quality, safety, drawing, welding, and project requirements.

This is a great opportunity for someone with CWB Level 1 certification and a background in welding, fitting, fabrication, or quality control who is looking to build their career in quality inspection.

DAY IN THE LIFE…

As a Junior QC Inspector, you will:

  • Conduct quality inspections throughout the fabrication process and upon completion.
  • Perform material verification, joint preparation and fit-up inspections.
  • Monitor welding activities and verify preheat and interpass temperatures.
  • Complete visual inspections of finished welds.
  • Perform dimensional inspections and verify work meets applicable drawings, WPS/WPDS, ITPs, and project requirements.
  • Verify fabrication is completed in accordance with applicable CSA standards and project specifications.
  • Identify deficiencies and non-conformances and ensure they are properly documented and addressed.
  • Complete inspection reports, documentation, and quality records accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate, compile, and maintain project quality documentation.
  • Execute inspections and sign-offs in accordance with the Inspection Test Plan (ITP).
  • Support the Quality Control program and ensure requirements are completed within established timelines.
  • Work collaboratively with fabrication, welding, project, and quality teams while also being comfortable working independently.
  • Follow all PTW Health and Safety policies and applicable Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • CWB Level 1 Welding Inspector - CSA W178.2,
  • Journeyman Welder and/or Fitter experience is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of CWB requirements and applicable welding standards.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing project information and preparing reports.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also working independently.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and solving problems.
TICKETS & REQUIREMENTS
  • CSA-approved safety boots.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable personal transportation - this location is not accessible by public transit.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
