Job Description Summary

The junior Project Manager/Project Engineer will work in the Cambridge, ON office reporting to the Regional Construction Manager. The candidate will work with and be mentored by other project managers and superintendents in the office. Travel and time at project sites are normal for this role.

The successful candidate will be mentored to manage small construction projects in the industrial environment (Oil and Gas, Pulp and Paper, Mining, Power Generation, Environmental Controls Technology).

Specific Duties
  • Project manage contracts between $50,000 and $1M
  • Working with an assigned construction supervisor, directs, plans and monitors resources for project completion, assessing manpower and material requirements.
  • Monitors quotations for engineering and manufacturing lead times for proposals.
  • Conducts regular project review meetings to follow contract performance status.
  • Develops strategies for project margin improvement through order changes and reduction in costs.
  • Works with internal team in the negotiation of terms and conditions, order changes and potential warranty or back charge items
  • Assist with estimates, schedules, plan construction work packages and proposals in conjunction with the Project Manager
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field, or a minimum of 2-3 years of experience as an on-site Project Manager
  • Interest or experience in managing smaller projects involving engineering, procurement, and construction
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools such as MS Project
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office applications
