Working closely with Senior Project Managers and Project Coordinators, this role develops hands-on experience in the technical, financial, and operational aspects of projects. You will gain exposure to contract management, fabrication processes, and client relations, building a strong foundation for a career in project management.

This role is ideal for early-career professionals who are motivated to learn, eager to take on responsibility, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced construction and fabrication environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Finance – Assist with project budgeting, cost tracking, and basic financial reporting under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager. Support the preparation of progress billings, track contract changes, and assist with purchasing requisitions and invoice reviews in accordance with project budgets and authorization limits.

  • Leadership – Support customer relationships through professional communication and timely follow-up. Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, shop personnel, and site teams to help monitor progress and resolve issues. Participate in shop and site visits to gain hands-on exposure to fabrication and construction activities.
  • Administration – Assist with project documentation, record keeping, and close-out activities. Support the solicitation and review of supplier and sub-trade quotations. Help coordinate purchasing activities to ensure materials and services align with project requirements, schedules, and budgets.
Your Qualifications

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented early-career professional who is interested in steel fabrication and project management. The successful candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.

Your qualifications include:

  • 1-3 years of experience in steel fabrication, construction, engineering, or project coordination, or a relevant co-op/internship background. Experience in steel fabrication is strongly preferred.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of steel fabrication processes, terminology, and shop workflows.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
  • Comfort using project management software and standard office applications to track documents, schedules, and costs.
  • Awareness of workplace safety practices and a willingness to learn applicable regulatory requirements, including the Nova Scotia OH&S Act.
  • Must be able to work on-site at Cherubini's Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office.
