St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph is recruiting for a Junior Programmer to assist with therapeutic social and recreational activities for Adult Day Program and Overnight Stay Participants, including those with dementia and brain injury.
The role includes assessment of needs under supervision and ensuring safety by reporting hazards. The position requires an undergraduate degree in Health or Social Sciences (or Nursing), relevant experience in program development, and a willingness to learn ADLs.
Days – Program may operate on evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The Junior Programmer role will assist with the provision of therapeutic social/recreational activities, Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), overnight monitoring and behavior interventions for Adult Day Program and Overnight Stay Participants (which includes frail elderly, dementia, and acquired brain injury population). Assist with assessment of participant needs and areas of intervention in consultation with and under the supervision of the Manager of Community Support Services (CSS) or designate. Identifies unsafe conditions or practices and takes appropriate action to address them including reporting or removing hazards.
Community Support Services (CSS) operates a diverse range of programs across multiple locations. These include:
Program hours vary by location and service. Shifts are primarily ranging from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Friday and Tuesday evenings until 8:30pm. On occasion shifts may be requested outside of these hours including weekends and holidays. Shifts can change to meet the needs of the participants and the program
