Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive individual to fill the role of Junior Production and Logistics Planner in our frozen fruit and vegetable processing facility. Junior Production and Logistics Planner will assist in coordinating and scheduling production activities in alignment with operations and logistics to meet customer demands while optimizing inventory levels, minimizing costs and supporting operational teams.
Responsibilities
Junior Production and Logistics Planner will assist in the planning and coordination of production and transfer schedules, ensuring efficient utilization of resources while meeting customer demand and quality standards.
- Assist in the creation, adjustment, and communication of production and transfer schedules
- Collect and analyze inventory data to identify cold storage capacity and needs
- Arrange and coordinate transfers between warehouse, 3PLs and carriers
- Align production and transfer schedules with overall operations and departments
- Ensure a good flow of raw material and finished goods inbounds, outbounds and intercompany transfers
- Support the tracking and analysis of inventory levels, forecasts, and order fulfillment
- Communicate with cross-functional teams (production, warehouse, logistics, sales, etc.) to gather information and ensure schedule alignment.
- Work closely with inventory control to ensure accurate inventory and information
- Prepare reports and dashboards using data from ERP/MRP systems to aid in planning decisions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in production planning and operations to enhance efficiency
- Help monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, inventory turns, and service levels.
- Flag potential issues in supply or demand and assist in proposing corrective actions.
- Participate in daily/weekly planning meetings and maintain updated planning files or calendars.
- Provide administrative and coordination support to the planning team as needed.

- Production and Transfer Scheduling: Assist in creating and maintaining production and transfer schedules to ensure timely delivery of products and movement of goods while maximizing efficiency and minimizing downtime. Support in maintaining schedules, considering factors such as seasonal availability, shelf-life, cold storage capacities and customer demand fluctuations.
- Inventory: Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods to support production schedules and minimize excess inventory. Support in implementing strategies to minimize excess inventory while ensuring sufficient stock to meet production requirements. Identify and resolve problems relating to inventory.
- Seasonal Demand Forecasting: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to forecast demand for frozen fruit and vegetable products, adjusting production schedules and inventory levels accordingly to align with seasonal variations. Forecast market challenges based on competitor analysis and industry trends.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with production teams, warehouse, logistics, and other relevant departments to ensure alignment of production schedules with supply chain activities.
- Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality control team to ensure that production schedules adhere to strict quality and food safety standards, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements in production planning and execution to enhance efficiency and reduce costs, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Data Analysis: Analyze production data, including yield, downtime, and production output, to identify trends and opportunities for optimization.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of production schedules, inventory levels, and quality control records, generating reports as needed to track performance and support decision-making processes.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in food science, agricultural business, supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
- 1-3 years previous experience in production planning within the food industry, preferably in frozen food processing or packaging industry.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality standards, with experience implementing quality assurance protocols.
- Proficiency in production planning software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bilingual French and English (to serve our internal and external customers).
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of seasonal variations and supply chain dynamics within the frozen fruit and vegetable industry is a plus.
