We are seeking an individual with a confident background in one or more disciplines used in Environmental Impact Assessment (inclusive of natural resources, human environment, and policy). Most importantly, we want someone who can apply their own expertise and integrate expertise of others to support collaborative decisions.

The person hired for this role will support PGL’s diverse client base which includes Indigenous communities, government, urban developers, and industry. Depending on your interests and client needs, you may also become involved in government-to-government negotiations, technical working groups, resource management planning, land use studies, socio-cultural studies, policy development, and community-based monitoring programs. Opportunities will also be available with our clients focused on project development (environmental studies, regulatory applications, or follow-up monitoring).

You are our ideal candidate if you:

  • Relate to the term “specialized generalist;”
  • Enjoy working independently and with project teams;
  • Are willing to invest in yourself and grow your knowledge and skills;

  • Can identify root causes and interlinkages in complex systems or conflicting information — using your own expertise to address what you can and connecting with the right resources to address what you cannot.
Responsibilities

  • Participate, with emphasis on evidence-based decision making, in applied data gathering or literature reviews for well-being of individual, families, or cultural topics.
  • Contribute as an author to multiple documents (memos, reports, management plans, briefing notes, workshop proceedings, etc.) for multiple audiences (coworkers, regulators, client, or public).
  • Attend and support muti-party meetings in various ways, including through maintaining records and tracking and coordinating action items.
  • Support project managers as needed with task coordination.
  • Contribute to internal process improvements, technical protocols, and team development.
  • Be able to participate in various types of environmental consulting projects as appropriate to the level of experience.
Job Requirements:
  • 3-7 years of experience working in professional capacity;
  • Consulting skills that include: time management, teamwork, client service, communicating technical information in an understandable way (verbal and written), multi-tasking and people skills, meeting facilitation (agenda, minutes, briefing notes)
  • Technical skills or qualifications (to include some or all of the following):
