Qualifications

We specialize in facilities design, implementation, and operational assistance for natural gas, conventional, and heavy oil projects. Our clients include several of the largest oil & gas producers in Canada and worldwide. Currently, we are executing a wide range of sweet gas, sour gas, conventional oil, heavy oil facility, and pipeline projects.

Position Overview

Equinox Engineering is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse oil and gas projects, supporting the mechanical engineering team in delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the mechanical engineering team in completing assigned tasks and deliverables.
  • Assist in equipment sizing, selection, and specification for mechanical systems.
  • Review vendor equipment drawings to ensure design accuracy and specification compliance.
  • Support the design of packages, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Develop and review mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of P&IDs.
  • Participate in field trips to client sites to determine the scope of mechanical tasks.
  • Assist in preparing engineering scope of work packages and procurement documents.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (process, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, automation) to ensure a cohesive design approach.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and project teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of all major equipment in compliance with relevant codes and specifications.
  • Support compliance with CSA B52, ASME Sec. VIII, TEMA, and API standards.
  • Gain exposure to industry standards such as NACE and ABSA/AEUB regulatory requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • EIT designation or working towards APEGA P.Eng. certification.
  • 0-3 years of EPCM experience in oil and gas projects is preferred.
  • Exposure to gas plant design is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
