Job summary

Worley is seeking a Junior Marine Structural Engineer to join our Vancouver, BC, Canada office. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work on marine and industrial structures within Worley Consulting.

You will deliver structural engineering services, assist with proposals and estimates, and support procurement, construction, and commissioning activities while coordinating with the engineering team and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in marine or industrial structures.
• Working knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals and related fields.
• Knowledge of local and international standards and regulatory specs.
• Experience with steel, concrete, and timber design.

Job Summary

We are currently looking for a Junior Marine Structural Engineer to join our Worley Consulting team. This is a full-time office position, based in Vancouver, B.C. Canada.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structural engineering services that meet Worley, its customers, and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
• Perform structural engineering services such as:
  • Identify and report changes to project scope.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Provide assistance during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities; for example, writing requisitions, conducting technical bid evaluations, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses, and recommend actions.
  • Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations, and reports.
• Participate in field inspections of industrial and marine sites and equipment and prepare inspection reports.
• Communicate effectively with the structural engineering team and project stakeholders, including the customer.
• Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and seek assistance when required.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in marine or industrial structures.
• Working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of structural engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
• Knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
• Competent use of structural engineering specific software such as STAAD or SAP2000.
• Structural design experience using steel, concrete, and timber.
• Understanding of seismic design principles.

Education

• A recognized degree in Civil Engineering with advanced courses in structural design.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
