Job summary

Worley Vancouver is seeking a Junior Marine Structural Engineer to join Worley Consulting. This full-time role is based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and focuses on delivering structural engineering services for marine and industrial projects under supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with design, proposals, budgets, field inspections, and coordination with engineers and stakeholders to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.

Qualifications

Purpose

We are currently looking for a Junior Marine Structural Engineer to join our Worley Consulting team. This a full-time office position, based in Vancouver, B.C. Canada.


Responsibilities


  • Deliver structural engineering services that meet Worley, its customers, and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.

  • Perform structural engineering services such as:

    • identify and report changes to project scope;

    • assist with the preparation of proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules;

    • provide assistance during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations and write purchase orders;

    • contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions;

    • assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports.



  • Participate in field inspections of industrial and marine sites and equipment and prepare inspection reports.

  • Communicate effectively with the structural engineeringam and project stakeholders, including the customer.

  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.


Qualifications


  • 1-3 years of experience in marine or industrial structures.

  • Working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of structural engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields

  • A working knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.

  • Competent use of structural engineering specific software such as STAAD or SAP2000.

  • Structural design experience using steel, concrete, and timber.

  • Understanding of seismic design principles.


Education

Required:


  • A recognized degree in Civil Engineering with advanced courses in structural design.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
