Junior Manufacturing Controls Technologist (on-site, based in our St. Thomas, ON office)

What will you do:

As the Junior Manufacturing Controls Technologist, you will play a key role in providing daily support with our production equipment, developing and commissioning automation projects in manufacturing, from initial concept to installation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide day-to-day support to the operations and maintenance teams with troubleshooting active equipment breakdowns or deficiencies
  • Maintain all control systems including but not limited to Robotic Cells, CNC Machines, Automated Cells, and Tester Units.
  • Maintain all electrical documentation and support the creation of standard formatting.
  • Investigate and implement equipment optimizations and cycle time reduction events
  • Provide electrical and controls input for a detailed scope of work, design basis document, and project execution plan.
  • Develop electrical designs for projects or proposals.
  • Develop operator’s work instructions and assist in training.
  • Prepare process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Support in the commissioning of automation projects as needed
  • Coordinate prototype and production runs through new program launches.
  • Support requests from the operations team to improve equipment efficiency
  • Drive long-term problem-solving through the implementation of CI projects.
  • Facilitate waste reduction initiatives as an SME in QCO, EP, Std Work, and PPS.
  • Assist in the creation of PFMEA, Control Plans, and other APQP / Stage Gate-related tasks

What will you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering Technician diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years of Control experience in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and programming of PLCs
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing practices
  • Ability to read and create electrical drawings
  • Experience with Robotic (ABB and Fanuc) and G-Code programming
  • Experience with RSLogix 500 and Studio 5000
  • Experience with Connected Components Workbench
  • Experience with FactoryTalk View ME
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical Drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
