We are a close-knit team that takes pride in our work, supports each other, and genuinely enjoys what we do. Every project is an opportunity to be creative, solve problems, and see the real impact of your skills. Our culture is built on honesty, integrity, respect, passion, and continuous growth—values we live every day, not just post on a wall. If you're looking for a place where you can do great work, feel at home, and have some fun along the way, Ackard is the place to be.

What You'll Do

In this part-time (16-24 hours per week) to potentially full-time position, working as a Junior Interior Designer at Ackard, you'll play a key supporting role within our Design team, working closely with our Lead Interior Designer. You'll collaborate with staff, clients, and suppliers to assist with design work after contracts are signed—helping to prepare layouts, elevations, selection packages, and project documentation. You may also support the sales team when needed. This role includes a mix of creative and administrative responsibilities, all contributing to the smooth execution of our custom renovation and design projects.

Generally, your duties will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Build and maintain a positive and professional rapport with clients.
  • Attend, record, and revise project documents and selection packages based on client meetings.
  • Maintain and share current design, product, installation methods, and best practices.
  • Assist the designer in leading client selection meetings and activities, ensuring they stay on track and within their allotted design hours.
  • Notify clients in advance if additional design hour costs will be incurred.
  • Organize and schedule client meetings and act as a coordinator between Design, Production, and Trades.
  • Work with cabinetry and production teams to ensure that the intended design translates into an accurate final product.
  • Work efficiently with other teams and coworkers, balancing process momentum with respect for workflow and timing.
  • Maintain Ackard's Design Centre by working with suppliers to ensure samples are current and relevant to our work and client budgets.
  • Other duties as requested.
What You Bring
  • Interior Design Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word; experience with Excel is an asset.
  • Experience using Chief Architect, SketchUp, or similar design software.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work well in a team.
  • Friendly, personable, and customer service-oriented approach when working with clients, suppliers, and staff.
  • A passion for interior and kitchen design.
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and build your career with Ackard.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based with regular computer use; involves sitting for extended periods working on design software, emails, and documentation.
  • Occasional site visits to residential renovation and construction projects.
  • Exposure to active construction environments during site visits (dust, noise, uneven surfaces); appropriate PPE may be required.
  • Standard weekday hours with some flexibility to meet project deadlines or attend client meetings.
  • Frequent collaboration with clients, internal teams, and suppliers.
  • Occasional lifting or transporting of material samples, product binders, or selection boards (generally under 25 lbs).
Work With Purpose
