Junior Health & Safety Coordinator

At TWD Technologies, we are seeking a highly motivated Junior Health & Safety Coordinator for our client in Hamilton, ON.

General
  • Champion for Health and Safety on the construction site.
  • Monitor the execution of planned construction scope to ensure that our client project goals for H&S are met.
  • Maintain open and clear communication with all project participants.
Health & Safety (self)
  • Responsible for own health and safety.
  • Has a valid safe work permit to access and work on the site.
  • Reviews toolbox talks as they are circulated. Is aware of all changing site conditions.
  • Stop. Challenge. Choose – If sees a dangerous act that poses an immediate threat, stops the worker. Otherwise, communicates these issues to contractor supervision or AMD’s contract lead.
Health & Safety (project)
  • Is knowledgeable about the construction scope of work, and implications for H&S.
  • Monitors site activities to ensure compliance with OHSA Act, Construction Regulations, and the AMD Third Party H&S program.
  • Reinforces a ‘Zero Accident’ philosophy with all parties on site. Maintains a regular presence on the construction site.
  • Interprets applicable Health and Safety legislation and AMD’s Third-Party H&S Program.
  • Participates in Risk Management activities for Construction Health & Safety.
  • Participates in Risk Management activities for Commissioning and Start-up Health and Safety.
  • Participates in risk analysis, FMEAs, etc., as required.
  • Conducts daily safety audits.
  • Participates in accident investigations and RCAs.
  • Participates in meetings relating to special procedures or work, e.g., confined space entry, engineered lifts, roof access, hot work, etc., to provide relevant safety input and expertise.
  • Reports to Construction Manager and Contractor management any observed violations of AMD’s Health & Safety Program so timely corrective action can be taken.
Meetings
  • Attend Health and Safety meetings as required.
Qualifications / experience
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience in the interpretation and application of the Ontario Health and Safety Act and the Construction Regulations.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience in Construction Health and Safety Role.
