Junior Hazardous Materials Professional - BC

Join our team at WSP in Canada as a Junior Hazardous Materials Professional. We are seeking candidates to provide hazardous materials assessment and abatement/remediation services across various locations including Langley, Vancouver, Victoria, Kamloops, Burnaby, Kelowna, and Prince George.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assess buildings for hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, PCBs, mercury, ozone-depleting substances, and microbial growth.
  • Collect samples for laboratory analysis and prepare assessment reports.
  • Develop management plans, safe work procedures, and abatement specifications.
  • Conduct condition assessments and inspections, including air monitoring.
  • Assist with occupational hygiene projects under supervision.
  • Support clients with asset assessments, data management, and compliance issues.

This position involves travel within the region, including remote and physically demanding environments. Some indoor and outdoor work with potential for light to moderate lifting.

Qualifications :

  • Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental diploma/certificate/degree (asset).
  • 1-2 years’ experience in health, safety, or hazardous materials.
  • Hazardous materials training, with WorkSafeBC Level S Surveyor Safety Training Certificate required. Additional hazardous materials courses are assets.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License in BC, personal vehicle, good driving record.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office).
  • Enthusiasm for technical excellence, excellent communication skills, team player, adaptable.
  • Willingness to travel and work rotational shifts, including out-of-town assignments up to two weeks.

Salary range in BC : $55,400 to $76,200. Final salary depends on experience, education, and other factors.
