Job description

Consus Management Ltd. has been established since 2009 as a distinguished resource management company with a primary office in Williams Lake, BC, and a secondary location in Vernon, BC. We specialize in the implementation and management of various Forest Tenures, Government Funded Programs, Silviculture and Timber Development Activities, and Utilities Contracts.

Currently, Consus Management Ltd. is seeking a summer/ part‐time Junior GIS Technician to work in its GIS Department. This position will be primarily based out of our Vernon, BC office.

Roles/ Responsibilities of Junior GIS Technician:
  1. Data Management: Download and organize government geospatial datasets.
  2. Forestry GIS Support: Mapping, data management, and data processing and analysis.
  3. Mapping: Generate standard and custom maps for forestry projects.
  4. GIS Processing & Analysis: Manage geospatial layers, perform spatial analysis, and integrate data.
  5. Documentation: Maintain metadata, document workflows, and ensure data integrity.
  6. Project Coordination: Manage workload to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
Qualifications for a Junior GIS Technician:
  1. Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Environmental Studies, Geography, GIS, or Geomatics.
  2. Strong understanding of GIS principles, spatial analysis, and data management.
  3. Proficiency in GIS software, preferably ArcGIS Pro.
  4. Experience with GPS and field data collection tools.
  5. Familiarity with spatial analysis techniques (e.g., overlay, buffering, proximity analysis).
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  7. Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Other Details:
  1. Starting wage: 23‐26$/ hour
  2. Work Term: May to August 2025
  3. Hours of work: Mon‐Fri/ 8am‐4:30pm.
  4. Location: Vernon, BC. This is not a remote position.
