Job summary

WSP is seeking a Junior Geoscientist / Geochemist / Data Scientist based in Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton. You will turn geochemical and environmental data into practical insight, support field sampling, data quality, and client-ready reporting for water, rock and soil projects.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to conceptual models, numerical analyses, and deliverables while learning from experienced specialists across WSP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in earth science or related field.
• 0–3 years of industry experience in field sampling, lab work, project design, client reporting or big data handling.
• Experience collecting, managing, QA/QC-ing and interpreting geochemical data from rock, soil or water with statistical analysis.
• Exposure to data management tools such as EQuIS or Access; coding/automation with Python, R or Excel macros is a plus.
• Familiarity with PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench, GoldSim, ioGAS or Leapfrog is an asset.
• Ability to clearly communicate findings, collaborate across disciplines and travel for fieldwork; consulting experience and a valid driver's license are assets.

Responsibilities

• Collect water, rock and soil samples for field programs.
• Manage and analyze large geochemical datasets with QA/QC.
• Develop conceptual models and run numerical analyses (mass-balance).
• Produce statistical analyses and translate findings into reports and visuals.
• Collaborate with geoscientists, hydrogeologists, engineers and data specialists.
• Contribute to technical reports and client deliverables while expanding skills.
