Role Overview :

The Fixed Income ETF Junior Quant Trader will be responsible for developing and implementing quantitative trading strategies and tools for our fixed income ETF market making business. This individual will work closely with Senior Traders, Developers, and Algo teams to optimize performance and manage risk.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Strategy Development : Design, test, and implement quantitative trading strategies for fixed income ETFs. Utilize statistical models and machine learning techniques to improve execution and performance.
  • Market Analysis : Conduct in-depth analysis of fixed income markets, including interest rate movements, credit spreads, and macroeconomic indicators. Monitor market conditions and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Execution : Efficiently execute trades across various fixed income instruments, including bonds, futures, and ETFs, while minimizing market impact and transaction costs.
  • Risk Management : Implement robust risk management practices to monitor portfolio risk and ensure adherence to investment guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with senior traders, researchers, and technology teams to refine trading strategies and improve trading infrastructure.
  • Reporting : Prepare regular reports on trading activity, strategy performance, and market insights for senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in quantitative trading or risk management, specifically within fixed income markets.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar languages. Proficiency in using trading platforms and analytical tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of fixed income products, including bonds, interest rate derivatives, and ETFs.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Base Salary :

Analyst - CAD $95,000

Associate - CAD $110,000- 120,000

Salary : Pay Type :

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
