What you do:

As a member of the Finance team, you will report to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting. The Junior Financial Accountant is a key contributor in the preparation and analysis of Boston Pizza International Inc.’s (“BPI”) monthly financial and departmental statements, key account reconciliations, management reports, and the preparation of quarterly and annual audit and tax working papers. In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Prepare and review Full Cycle Accounting for BPI:
    • Prepare journal entries and monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
    • Prepare and perform variance analysis of financial statements and management reports.
    • Review accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions and provide back up and support as needed, including some administrative tasks
  • Prepare quarterly and annual audit working papers for BPI
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual filings including BPI Financial Statements (non-consolidated)
  • Prepare and process treasury tasks, including:
    • Weekly cash management
    • Monthly Bank Reconciliations
    • Bank deposits as required
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual filings, including:
    • GST/HST/QST returns
    • Statistics Canada surveys

Who you are:

  • You have a post-secondary diploma in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
  • You have a minimum of 1 year of progressive accounting experience. Experience using Sage or other Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) systems would be an asset.
  • You may be working towards a CPA designation.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • You have strong attention to detail, communication (verbal and written), organizational, decision making, and interpersonal skills.
  • You are able to multi-task, work independently and in a team environment, thrive in a fast paced and deadline-drive environment, and maintain confidentiality.
