About the Role

Mainland Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator / Project Coordinator to join our growing team. This is a dynamic, dual-role opportunity ideal for someone early in their construction career. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in estimating and project coordination across the full project lifecycle—from pre-construction planning through to execution and close-out.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working closely with experienced Bid and Project Managers, you’ll develop a well-rounded foundation in excavation and shoring projects while actively supporting the planning, budgeting, procurement, and site documentation efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity take-offs under the direction of the Bid Manager/Estimator.
  • Prepare supplier RFPs (Requests for Pricing).
  • Analyze supplier quotations for review by the Bid Manager/Estimator.
  • Review tender documents—including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Assist the Bid Manager with logistics planning and project scheduling.
  • Assist Project Managers in compiling change orders.
  • Support Project Managers in preparing purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Help with cost tracking and project financials.
  • Assist Project Managers in managing RFI (Request for Information) submissions and Site Instructions (SIs).

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree from an accredited Technical College or University in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent construction industry experience.
  • Self-directed and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn construction-related software under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Understanding of Microsoft Project is an asset.
