The Opportunity:

WSP has a full-time opportunity for a Junior Environmental Professional to join our Contaminated Lands team based in Saskatoon or Winnipeg. This role involves frequent travel across Saskatchewan to conduct environmental field work and manage on-site health and safety procedures. When not in the field, you will learn to prepare for fieldwork programs, contribute to technical reports, and develop project coordination skills. Candidates should be self-motivated, prioritize health and safety, and possess strong time management and communication skills.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Prepare and follow site-specific health and safety plans to minimize risks.
  • Identify and report hazards and incidents on-site.
  • Maintain detailed field notes and handle soil and groundwater samples.
  • Conduct fieldwork such as groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, borehole drilling, and supervision of subcontractors, under guidance.
  • Coordinate project documentation, subcontractors, and equipment for field programs.
  • Manage project-related field notes, assist with data entry, and contribute to report writing.
  • Complete tasks efficiently and accurately, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • Travel across Saskatchewan for multiple days to complete field tasks.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or diploma in environmental sciences.
  • A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and ability to work independently.
  • Strong health and safety awareness and a safety-conscious mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with attention to detail in field notes.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel for work.
  • Professional certification eligibility is an asset.
