Job description

As a Junior Engineer, you will design and plan processes, tools, and equipment needed for high quality, efficient planning, construction, repair, testing/commissioning, and delivery of ships, applying practical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education. A Junior Engineer advises on facts, policies and practices related to their assigned job scope across theoretical, practical, and/or lean engineering disciplines in a shipbuilding environment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent.
  • Able to apply standards applicable to role, with guidance
  • General awareness of shipyard disciplines (hull structure, ship arrangements, ship piping systems, propulsion, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, producibility, manufacturing).
  • Some exposure to or interest in marine field through work experience (e.g. co-op) or academic study.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities
  • Derive routine engineering deliverables within an assigned job scope, under the close supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
  • Review technical deliverables and products developed by both internal and external stakeholders, providing constructive comments and feedback to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Identify and propose opportunities for continuous improvement within the assigned job scope and contribute to broader enhancements within the Engineering discipline.
  • Recognize and communicate risks associated with the assigned job scope, functional area, or the broader Engineering discipline, supporting proactive risk mitigation.
