Junior Engineer, Product Safety, Environmental and Certification

Job Description
The Junior Engineer – Product Safety, Environment & Certification is a product assurance role in the CSC Systems Engineering Team. Reporting to the Engineering Lead – Product Safety and Environment, the successful candidate is required to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to execute the CSC Safety and Environmental Program and the CSC Certification Program.

This entry-level position provides a unique opportunity to join a team of world-class Product Safety, Environmental & Certification Engineers. This role will provide insight into the design of warships and their systems, including weapons, sensors, and propulsion, as well as broader Systems Engineering disciplines such as Requirements Verification and Validation, Human Systems Integration, Supportability, and Survivability. The successful candidate will need to be an agile learner, apply critical thinking, and scrutinize details while understanding the bigger picture.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of the CSC Safety and Environmental Program;
  • Support Hazard Identification, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment;
  • Support the execution of the CSC Safety and Environmental Management System;
  • Support and provide coordination to Product Safety & Environmental meetings with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Provide support in evaluating Engineering Change to ensure that impacts, risks, and issues related to design, integration, test, and acceptance activities are identified, communicated, and recorded.

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Understanding of how to apply standards applicable to the role, with guidance - typically via 0-4 years of progressive experience
  • General awareness of ship disciplines and/or safety, environment & certification (desirable)
  • Some exposure to or interest in the marine field through work experience (e.g., co-op) or academic study
  • Able to apply Systems Engineering methodologies
  • Practical application of safety, environmental and certification standards.
