Job Function and Responsibilities:

As a member of the Linear Water and Wastewater Services team, this role will collaborate with the other Engineer-In-Training (EIT)’s in this team and:

  • Work in the Municipal infrastructure design (replacement and rehabilitation) of local and trunk linear underground infrastructure comprising: planning, design and support during construction
  • Review and contribute to the preliminary and detailed design of municipal infrastructure projects including storm and sanitary sewers, water mains, pump stations, storm water management facilities
  • Supporting role in linear water and wastewater projects including:
    • Conveyance and distribution water systems
    • Collection and trunk sewage networks
    • Stormwater quality and quantity controls
    • Low impact development (LID) practices
  • Prepare design drawings, quantity/cost estimates and construction contract specifications.
  • Perform tasks in support of: project management, quality assurance, conceptual planning, assessment, analysis and detailed design, preparation of contract documents and cost estimates, tender analysis, support services during construction, preparation of comprehensive engineering reports and proposals, business development/client liaison.
  • Assist in the integration of multi-disciplinary input into the design process from specialists in areas such as structural engineering, stormwater management, geotechnical engineering and environment / ecology.
  • Coordinate with various utility stakeholders and regulatory agencies and prepare materials for inclusion in permit application packages to secure approvals.
  • Conduct site visits to assist in field data collection and subsequently to organize/structure field data to support project objectives.
Qualifications:
  • EIT designation in Ontario and working towards your P.Eng license as per the PEO requirements
  • Fluent in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Collaborative team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter
