Job summary

DES Engineering Limited is seeking a Junior Drafting Technologist to complete drafting of electrical distribution systems and prepare CAD working plans for residential, commercial and industrial projects.

The role focuses on creating accurate single-line diagrams, electrical layouts and wiring drawings, while adhering to industry standards and QA/QC processes. Some site travel may be required, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of AutoCAD drafting experience.
• Experience drafting power distribution systems would be considered an asset.
• Electrical Design & Drafting Technology or Engineering Design Technology Diploma or CAD Certificate from a recognized technical institution.
• First aid and CPR certification would be considered an asset.
• Experience using MicroStation would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Draft underground and overhead power distribution systems using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Draft traffic signal, lighting and electrical drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Utilize knowledge of design standards and procedures when completing drawings and deliverables to client and industry specifications.
• Assist in the creation of single line diagrams, electrical layouts, schematics and wiring.
• Conduct drawing reviews and corrections under the guidance of senior team members as needed including following QAQC processes.
• Assist the project team in delivering high quality client service as needed to deliver top quality solutions.
• Collaborate with senior designers and engineers for support and development on more challenging tasks.
• Ensure all safety procedures and processes are followed with the goal of zero injury.
• Work safely and follow all rules and procedures including attending and participating in safety meetings and completing all required safety orientation and training.
• Completion of other relevant duties as required.
