Our client is seeking a full-time Drafting and Layout Person to work from their Mississauga location.

Job Description

The Drafting and Layout Person is detail-oriented, well-organized, and proactive. Working alongside the Salesperson, Production Manager, Project Coordinator, Production Coordinator, and Shop Foreman, they form the Project Team. Their primary responsibility is to assemble all information and details necessary to produce detailed shop drawings and fabrication layout documents. This role requires constant and open communication with all team members.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Technical aptitude and knowledge of basic building sciences and typical construction details
• The ability to read and understand Architectural, Mechanical, and Structural drawings
• Good numeracy and verbal communication skills
• Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe PDF
• Self-motivation and a strong work ethic
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• The ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment
• The ability to handle responsibility and meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Overtime may be required to meet deadlines

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review Project Specifications and compare them with the Sales Work Order to ensure consistency with company standards
• Meet with Salesperson and Project Coordinator to understand project requirements, including special conditions and details
• Produce shop drawings and fabrication layouts according to schedule
• Purge and file all project documents (hard and soft copies)
• Perform product quantity take-offs from contract drawings as needed
• Perform other related duties as assigned, including assisting in estimating, production coordination, or site assistance
