GIRO is seeking a skilled software engineer to join the Algorithms team in Montreal. You will participate in all stages of designing and developing large-scale software products, focusing on optimization algorithms, modeling, and architecture to deliver impactful solutions.

The role requires strong C++ expertise, experience with Windows and databases, and the ability to communicate effectively in French. Remote-friendly with growth opportunities and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in CS, software engineering, OR, or applied math.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience (academic or industry).
• Strong C++ skills; experience with Windows and relational databases.
• Proficiency in French, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all stages of design and development of large-scale software products: functional design, mathematical modeling, architecture, detailed analysis, and programming.
• Develop, improve, and maintain optimization algorithms integrated into various applications.
• Document and test developments to ensure their quality and long-term sustainability.
• Provide technical support to development and project teams that use the functionalities developed by the Algorithms team.

Within the Algorithms team, you will play a key role in the design, evolution, and industrialization of complex software solutions that have a direct impact on the daily lives of millions of public transit users around the world.

Your main responsibilities:

• Participate in all stages of the design and development of large-scale software products: functional design, mathematical modeling, architecture, detailed analysis, and programming

THE SKILLS THAT WILL MAKE YOU A KEY MEMBER OF OUR TEAM

• Master’s or PhD in a relevant field: computer science, software engineering, operations research, applied mathematics, etc.
• 0 to 3 years of relevant experience (academic or industry)
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming, particularly in C++
• Experience with Windows environments and relational databases
• Solid knowledge of operations research, including modeling and solving LP/MILP problems, column generation, and metaheuristics
• Ability to communicate effectively in French, both orally and in writing
