Junior Designer / Drafter

This role requires a solid understanding of architectural drafting techniques and engineering terminology. The Junior Designer / Drafter will prepare clear, complete, and accurate working plans and detailed drawings to support the engineering team, including all views and dimensions necessary for installation and fabrication. Producing accurate work on the first attempt is essential for success.

Skilled Requirements

• Apply the DANMARE CADD Standard document to all drawings.
• Strong 2D AutoCAD skills, including layer management and XREFs manipulation.
• 3D Modelling under supervision of the Project Lead Designer.
• Develop and prepare engineering layout drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, and specifications.
• Sound knowledge of CAD design, drafting techniques, engineering drawings, and reading of drawings.
• Familiarity with relevant engineering procedures, standards, and guides.
• Ability to interpret and use related documents and drawings.
• Able to identify and report design issues to the Project Lead Designer or Project Engineer.
• Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and safety standards is an asset.
• On-site verification of layout drawings and site measurements.
• Prepare drawings for tender documents, including mechanical or electrical equipment installations.
• Familiarity with P&IDs and PFDs; assist Process Engineer with Process Diagrams.
• Understand the design process and relevant procedures for engineering documents.
• Ensure compliance with design standards to provide quality work.
• Participate in Design Review Meetings.
• Work effectively as part of a design team, cooperating with management to produce high-quality engineering work.
• Complete assignments on time, within schedule and budget.
• Maintain confidentiality of DANMARE and customer information.
• Continuously improve technical and professional skills through ongoing education.
• Promptly inform management of any changes affecting customer relationships or ongoing work.

Desired Skills

• Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Design, Engineering, or Architectural Technology.
• 1-3 years of drafting experience with strong knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and 3D Modelling in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience with 2D & 3D AutoCAD; other 3D software skills are a plus.
• Strong communication, mathematical, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, AutoCAD, and Visio.
• Experience working on multi-discipline projects.
• Basic understanding of related engineering fields.
