Junior Data Analyst to support the HR People Analytics Team using Power BI, SQL and Excel with one of our major banking clients- 37681

Contract Duration: 6 months (Possibility of extension)

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

  • Business group: HR Reporting and Insights – supporting People Analytics function, majority of work is a blend between BA and Systems Analyst and a lot of focus on data, creating reports, testing, data validation – using PowerBI, Excel, SQL Scripting
  • Project: Responsible for supporting the Senior Manager Reporting and Insights in the development of HR reporting solutions (through various tools, including but not limited to SuccessFactors People Analytics and Power BI), provide support and maintenance of HR reporting solutions for issues escalated from Employee Services teams as tier 2 support, execute QA testing for HR reports, and communicating with HR and non-HR partners.

Typical Day in Role:

  • Documents and validates business requirements that guide the development of HR reports for multiple stakeholders within HR and the business.
  • Develops SuccessFactors reports and PowerBI reports, ensuring they are consistent with data management principles and privacy requirements.
  • Provides user support to global users and resolves technology issues escalated from Employee Services teams and escalates complex technology issues to Employee Experience teams.
  • Assists peers across within the HR Reporting team by providing technical expertise on medium complexity database queries, scripts, automation, and technological architecture issues.
  • Supports the HR Reporting knowledge management function, by documenting and reviewing information related to requirements, access rules, roles and calculations are clearly defined.
  • Collaborates with GHR Technology teams in the coordination and scheduling of system updates and system configuration.
  • Researches and analyzes leadings trends and practices on HR technologies, provides insights to Manager, Business Analysis, GHR Services.
  • Coordinates with IT counterparts in GHR Technology to customize and maintain reporting technology for HR.
  • Coordinates with external vendors to resolve technology issues as required.
  • Generating Power BI reports based on defined requirements, validating data feeds using SQL scripts, and supporting testing activities such as doing Excel lookups.

Must Have Skills:

1) 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst with hands-on experience working with large data sets

2) Basic level experience with Power BI – creating reports

3) Intermediate level experience with SQL scripting to validate data feeds

4) Intermediate level experience with Excel (V Lookups, Cross Lookups)

Nice-To-Have Skills:

1) Previous experience with HR systems, especially SuccessFactors People Analytics application, is preferred

3) Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.

4) Experience from a large, highly matrixed and complex Organizational structure

Education:

Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, technical field preferred

Power BI, Data Analytics certifications are an asset

Best VS. Average Candidate:

A strong data analyst who has worked with large data sets, HR data knowledge is great and if they have worked with SuccessFactors that will set them apart, as is a short engagement need someone who can hit the ground running with minimal hand holding, are expected to take ownership on tasks assigned

2 rounds – MS Teams Video Interview

1st round with HM – 1 hour – technical test will be sent after 1st round if candidate is succesful, to complete by 2nd round/ASAP – to send back via email and will be reviewed during 2nd round

2nd round with another team member/senior manager – 1 hour
