Job description

Inland Technical Services is seeking a Junior Commissioning Coordinator to support our senior commissioning team on complex mechanical and electrical building projects. This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, has a technical mindset, excellent organizational skills, and a strong interest in building systems and construction processes.

This position offers the opportunity to grow into specialized areas such as LEED commissioning, energy management, and monitoring-based commissioning. You’ll gain exposure to advanced building systems, industry software, and real-world project coordination techniques that contribute to high-performance buildings and foster effective collaboration across project teams—both internally and with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and managing commissioning documentation throughout the project lifecycle
• Conduct detailed reviews of drawings, specifications, and submittals
• Support the development of project schedules and tracking tools for commissioning milestones
• Input and organize data into commissioning software platforms and manage document control
• Coordinate and participate in commissioning meetings; prepare and distribute meeting minutes
• Prepare technical checklists and assist in assembling commissioning plans and reports
• Support field teams with job preparation, documentation packages, and project coordination
• Help ensure commissioning activities align with design intent, construction timelines, and contractual requirements

What You Bring

Education or experience in mechanical, electrical, building systems, or project coordination

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables attentively and efficiently

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with CAD and commissioning tools like BlueRithm is a plus

Ability to interpret and work with technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

A proactive, adaptable attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Quick thinking, ability to pivot when needed, and a professional approach to delivering difficult or sensitive updates with tact and respect

Preferred Assets

Engineering Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Management, or Certificates in Construction / Project Management, LEED, Certified Energy Management, Commissioning Professional (CCP).

HVAC knowledge or relevant industry experience

Experience in project coordination, document control, or consulting engineering environments

Familiarity with building automation systems, energy codes, LEED commissioning, or related quality control processes
