DescriptionYour role at GEI.GEI is seeking a junior professional who can contribute to the continued growth within GEI’s land development and water resources team, and is interested in working collaboratively with a talented group of design, management, and technical leaders. This team focuses on drainage and servicing, stormwater management, and development of lands both big and small. We lead these projects from conception and design through to construction and certification. This position will support GEI’s civil engineering practice in our Kitchener, Ontario office.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties- Develop site grading, servicing, and stormwater management designs for land development projects.
- Assist with AutoCAD drafting in Civil 3D.
- Complete stormwater modelling, including for Low Impact Development systems.
- Prepare design calculations for sanitary sewers and storm sewers.
- Develop and evaluate design alternatives.
- Respond to review agency comments.
- Attend meetings with clients and review agencies.
- Evaluate and analyze collected data and prepare technical reports, letters and memoranda.
- Assist with proposal preparation.
- Prepare construction specifications and tender documents.
- Collaborate and coordinate with senior project managers, project team staff and clients.
- Provide construction inspection, where needed.
Minimum Qualifications- 0-4 years of previous professional experience in civil engineering and consulting; knowledge and familiarity with engineering design processes.
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or directly related field from a recognized university.
- Ability to obtain P.Eng. in Ontario with experience.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
- Experience with stormwater modelling software such as PCSWMM, MIDUSS and OTTHYMO is an asset.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D is an asset.
- Willingness and ability to work from the GEI Kitchener office and travel to project/client sites as required.
- Willingness and ability to perform field tasks.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license.
