Job description

TRUE Consulting is currently seeking a Junior Civil Engineer to join our Kamloops Office. This individual will be an EIT or P.Eng. with strong design skills in municipal infrastructure, who is passionate about team-based project delivery and wants to live and work in the beautiful city of Kamloops, BC!

Our Kamloops Office delivers a wide range of municipal and land development projects in the BC Interior. Our clients include municipalities, First Nations, resource corporations, and private developers. While this position will largely support our municipal and first nations projects, this opportunity will be catered to the needs and interests of our best candidate. Some key responsibilities may include the following:

  • Detailed design of municipal and land development projects in the interior of BC.
  • Prepare or coordinate the preparation of technical documents such as calculations, memorandums, cost estimates, tender documents, reports, and regulatory approvals.
  • Support Project Managers in the delivery of all aspects of municipal and land developments projects, including design, project management, construction management, field inspections, contract administration, client communications, municipal permitting, and more.
  • Working collaboratively with project teams of other experienced Engineers, EITs, technologists, and other professionals.

Our team in Kamloops currently includes twelve Professional Engineers, ten EITs, one Professional Planner, three BC Land Surveyors, over fourteen technologists, and other technical and administrative staff.

About You

Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, strengths, and interests:

  • Experience: 2+ years of post-degree civil engineering design experience in a consulting or municipal environment. Relevant experience related to construction management and construction inspection will be considered an asset.
  • Professional Qualifications: Registered or immediately eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer with EGBC
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience as a technical design engineer on municipal infrastructure or land development projects in BC. Experience in project management or contract administration is considered an asset.
  • Municipal Modeling Proficiency: Experience in WaterCAD, PCSWMM, AutoCAD Civil 3D, utilities sizing and network analysis, and/or ESRI would be considered an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated report writing skills, and proficient written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to define problems, prioritize tasks, and maintain a community-driven perspective.
  • Innovative Spirit: Genuine curiosity, a desire to innovate, and expand personal and company knowledge.
  • Growth: Looking to work towards obtaining or expanding on your professional designation and becoming an integrated part of the successful team at TRUE.
