Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Junior Civil Designer to support nuclear project design and drafting in Ontario. You will create 2D/3D CAD drawings and coordinate with engineers across AutoCAD, MicroStation and Revit platforms to ensure QA compliance.

The role involves handling fast-paced, technically complex tasks, revising drawings, and contributing to project deliverables within a team. Hybrid work options and training opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• College diploma or equivalent with CAD drafting experience.
• Minimum 2 years in mechanical design and drafting.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Raster Design, Revit, MicroStation and SolidWorks.
• Basic 2D/3D CAD capabilities and willingness to learn.
• Ability to revise drawings and implement design changes with guidance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation; 3D modeling as needed.
• Follow document management systems and QA requirements.
• Produce drawings/2D and 3D models for nuclear and conventional systems.
• Apply codes and standards and coordinate with the design team.
• Interface with engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.

CANDU Energy Inc./ AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. is actively seeking qualified Junior Civil Designer to support engineering roles for nuclear projects in major areas, such as, new build in the province of Ontario, international new builds, refurbishment, and continuous plant operation support modifications for nuclear power plants.

How will you contribute to the team?

This position requires working on fast paced technically complex projects in the Nuclear industry. Typical duties and essential functions will include but not be limited to the preparation, design, modification, coordination, and/or review of the following:

• Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD and/or Microstation;Sketching, and three-dimensional computer modeling.
• Follow client driven file management system for document storage.
• Prepare engineering deliverables for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. / Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
• Apply relevant Codes & Standards and regulatory requirements and coordinate with design team to ensure the compliances.
• Interface with Engineering teams, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
• Must be “Team” oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with other and promote a positive work environment.

About you:

• College diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 2 years in mechanical design and drafting.
• Working knowledge in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Raster Design, Revit, Micro Station and SolidWorks
• Individuals are expected to have some basic academic knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD applications.
• Continue to learn the fundamentals of CAD techniques through job experience, coaching and training in order to reach a higher competency level.
• Revise existing drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) from fairly detailed verbal or written instructions, and/or marked up drawings.
• Prepare drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) of minimal complexity. As requested, implement any necessary design changes, calculations and materials selection - with assistance from more senior staff.
• Ensure CAD file configuration management and storage are as per procedure.
• Ability to take marked up engineering drawings and incorporates changes into AutoCAD files.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environment as well as independently.
• Perform other related duties as required.
