Job summary

Leonardo Canada Inc. in Ottawa is seeking a Junior C# Software Developer to join our growing engineering team. This hands-on role focuses on the design and development of core software components for next-generation products in the Electronic Warfare domain.

You will work in an Agile scrum team, contribute to the full software development lifecycle, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and leaders to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

  • 1–4 years of hands-on C# development with .NET Core/.NET 10.
  • Experience building web apps with REST APIs and SPAs.
  • Experience containerizing apps with Docker and Docker Compose.
  • Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new software components and services using .NET and C#.
  • Ensure seamless integration between user interfaces and backend services.
  • Write clean, maintainable code that is well-documented and follows best practices.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, design sessions and peer reviews.
  • Support translating system requirements into software components and interfaces.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers, PMs, architects and leadership.
  • Champion best practices and continuous improvement within the team.

Engineering Full Time Ottawa, ON $65,000 - $75,000 CAD per year

Position Summary

We are seeking a Junior C# Software Developer to join our growing engineering team in Ottawa. This is a unique opportunity to help contribute to the design and development of a next generation product line in the Electronic Warfare domain. You will work within an agile scrum team and contribute to the design and delivery of core software components that are foundational to our future offerings. In this role, you will be hands-on with development. You will participate in internal and customer-facing design reviews, testing events, and other project-related activities that span the full software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new software components and services using .NET and C#
  • Ensure seamless integration between user interfaces and backend services.
  • Write clean, maintainable code that is self-documenting and adheres to best practices.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, design sessions, and peer code reviews.
  • Support the allocation of system requirements to software components and interfaces.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively with stakeholders including engineers, product managers, architects, and senior leadership.
  • Champion best practices and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Take ownership of the quality and delivery of software solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • 1-4 years of hands-on experience with C# development using .NET Core -.NET 10.
  • Experience with web application development, such as REST APIs, Single Page Applications (SPAs).
  • Experience containerizing applications and services using Docker and Docker Compose.
  • Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and software automation.
  • Exposure to SDLC in military or defence industry environments.
  • Experience contributing to technical design documentation and architectural decisions.
  • Experience building reusable, maintainable UI components using Blazor and Telerik UI for Blazor. [MS1]
  • Experience with message broker systems such as RabbitMQ or similar.
  • Experience with Entity Framework Core. Mapping/GIS technologies such as OpenLayers and GeoServer
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in agile environments, particularly using Scrum
  • Experience using agile development tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Nexus.
Security Clearance

Given the nature of our software development work, it is a condition of employment that the successful candidate receive the required security clearances. Successful candidates must be eligible for Controlled Goods Regulations Program (CGRP) government clearances and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). In addition, candidates must be able to obtain a Canadian Industrial Security Clearance to NATO SECRET level.   • Must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
  • Must have lived in Canada continuously for the past 10 years;
