Job Description

Role: We’re seeking a Junior Bookkeeper to join our Finance team in Toronto. This full-time, hands-on role involves supporting various accounting tasks, primarily in general accounting, budgeting, payroll, and incentive processing. This is an excellent opportunity for growth in the sustainability sector, emphasizing valued people and meaningful work.

Accountability and Reporting: The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer of Summerhill.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform general accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliation, adjusting entries, and trial balance.
  2. Utilize Microsoft GP (asset) and verify source documents such as invoices and receipts.
  3. Allocate and post financial transactions, transfer data to the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and generate financial reports.
  4. Maintain internal control systems, manage accounts payable and receivable, and prepare checks, payments, and deposits.
  5. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and assist with audits.
  6. Maintain organized financial records and filing systems.
Qualifications:
  1. At least three years of experience in accounting or finance.
  2. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  3. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  4. Detail-oriented with high accuracy.
  5. Quick learner with excellent organizational skills.
  6. Proficient in MS Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  7. Experience with Microsoft GP and ADP is an asset.
  8. Team-oriented mindset.
