By working on the development and growth of the Natural Resources & Impact Assessment business group, you will participate in a wide variety of projects within interdisciplinary teams located in Eastern Canada where GHD has over 400 employees deployed in 12 offices. Our team works for a wide range of clients located across Eastern Canada, including the mining, coastal infrastructure, and renewable energy industries.

We are currently looking for a Junior Biologist to join our team in Halifax.

Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in ecological characterizations and habitat compensation programs.
  • Participate in wetland assessments and flora and fauna inventories.
  • Participate in environmental impact assessments and permit applications.
  • Participate in environmental monitoring and developing monitoring and management plans.
  • Determine the ecological constraints applicable to infrastructure design projects.
  • Manage ecological databases, analyze data, and prepare technical reports.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of proposals and business development.

What you will bring to the Team :

  • Bachelor's degree in biology (a master's degree will be an asset). A college diploma in wildlife management or a related field combined with years of experience may be considered equivalent.
  • Between 0 and 2 years of professional experience in biology.
  • Good knowledge of identification keys in fauna and botany as well as Nova Scotia guidance and methods for the characterization and delineation of wetlands and watercourses.
  • Experience in conducting fish and fish habitat assessments, avifauna, and herpetofauna inventories.
  • Good knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation.
  • Good technical writing skills.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and vehicle.
  • Availability for short-term travel.
