Job summary

Centennial Auto Group in Summerside, PEI is hiring a Junior Accountant to build a foundation in accounting within a supportive team. This full-time, permanent role offers 8:00am–5:00pm hours and a pay rate of 20.00–30.00 per hour plus benefits.

You’ll assist with financial statements, reconciliations, data entry, and month‑end closings while gaining hands-on experience with our accounting software. A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance is preferred, with up to 2 years of

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Up to 2 years of accounting experience (internships or coursework accepted).
• Proficiency in Excel and Google Workspace; knowledge of accounting software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Financial Statements: balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports.
• Account Reconciliation: reconcile bank and general ledger accounts.
• Data Entry: input financial data into the accounting software.
• Accounts Payable/Receivable: process invoices and track payments.
• Month-End and Year-End Closings: assist with journal entries and close processes.
• Expense Tracking: document and monitor company expenses.
• Compliance and Reporting: support regulatory reporting and accuracy.
• Audit Support: provide documentation during audits.
• Documentation and Filing: maintain organized financial records.

APPLICABLE SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.

JOB TASKS:

• Assist with Financial Statements: Support the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and vendor/customer accounts.
• Data Entry: Accurately input and update financial data in the company’s accounting software.
• Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, track payments, and ensure accurate financial records for vendor and customer accounts.
• Month-End and Year-End Closings: Assist with journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting processes.
• Expense Tracking: Monitor and document company expenses to ensure accurate financial records.
• Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Assist in preparing financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and ensure financial data aligns with company policies during audits.
• Documentation and Filing: Maintain organized and up‑to‑date financial records and reports.
