Job description

Our client is a small but successful investment firm based in Downtown Vancouver, with a strong focus on the mining industry. Known for their hands-on approach and industry expertise, they offer a collaborative and professional work environment. The team works in the office four days a week, creating strong team connections and mentorship opportunities. They are currently looking for an experienced Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant to join their growing team.

In this role, the Junior Accountant will report directly to the Corporate Accountant and take ownership of the accounts payable (AP) function, including invoice entry, coding, and payment processing. You’ll also be the main point of contact for vendor inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate communication and resolution of issues.

In addition to AP duties, the role will support some full-cycle accounting tasks and participate in ad hoc projects as needed, providing a great opportunity to broaden your accounting experience in a dynamic investment environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in AP processes, and brings strong communication skills to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of full-cycle AP or general accounting experience
  • Experience in the mining industry is an asset
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in the CPA program is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including familiarity with VLOOKUP and pivot tables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a passion for continuous learning
  • Humble and willing to ask questions or seek help when needed
  • Bright, self-motivated, and able to work independently, while also being a collaborative team player
