Job Summary :

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support the finance function within a dynamic and fast-paced construction environment. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will assist with day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting while gaining exposure to project accounting and cost management.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Support the processing of supplier invoices, staff expenses, and subcontractor payments in accordance with CIS regulations.
  • Reconcile bank statements and supplier accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project cost records and assist with cost allocation across multiple construction projects.
  • Help monitor budgets, track project spend, and assist in preparing variance analysis reports.
  • Liaise with project managers and quantity surveyors to gather financial information and ensure alignment with on-site activity.
  • Support the year-end audit process and provide documentation as required.
  • Assist in maintaining fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.

Key Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or finance support role; experience in construction or a project-based environment is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, COINS, Xero, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to working within a finance team.
