Overview

High Tide Inc.is looking for Junior Accountant (1-year contract) in our Calgary corporate office. Our organization is growing exponentially, and phenomenally successful in the cannabis sector. You will report to the Director of Accounting and Reporting, the Junior Accountant is directly responsible for performing data entry and related duties in disbursing non-payroll accounts payable to individuals, suppliers, corporations, and other entities. This includes maintaining ledgers, credit balances, and account irregularities. You will primarily be responsible for ensuring that all expense entries are IFRS compliant and coded according to policy.

Responsibilities
    • Process (entry, review, and posting) invoices accurately on a timely basis for payments on both our Concur platform and Sage X3.
  • Respond to and resolve internal and supplier inquiries in a professional and timely manner, investigating and resolving billing discrepancies or misapplied payment transactions.
  • Assist in closing month and quarter ends, including but not limited to accruals and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepares general ledger journal entries as needed.
  • Assists with the preparation of weekly payment runs (EFT/ACH/Wires).
  • Assists with the resolution of various payment or system related issues (e.g. rejected payments, technical issues related to vendors, etc.).
  • Coordinates with suppliers and reconciles supplier statements.
  • Setup banking information for new supplier records.
  • Co-manage the Accounts Payable inbox, which is the main contact point for internal and external A/P inquiries. This involves sorting and forwarding emails/invoice copies as well as responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Maintains financial security by adhering to internal accounting controls.
  • Build solid relationships across all units at various accounting levels.
  • Ensures the strict confidentiality and privacy of both financial and non-financial information as they relate to the organization and its business partners.
  • Any additional duties assigned by the company from time to time.
  • Complete special projects as required, report on findings, prepare recommendations and monitor outcomes. These may include the development of guidelines and procedures.
  • Recording bank/card transactions into the accounting system, including bank reconciliation.
  • Coordinate payments postings with the AP team and/or other relevant accounting team members to support daily bank closing initiative.
  • Creation of Accounts Receivable invoices for various types of revenue streams.
  • Process customer payments accurately and on a timely basis.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in AP process and all types of accounts reconciliations and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records in accordance to IFRS.
  • Experienced in gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business related.
  • Knowledge & Experience using ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Excel knowledge.
