Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (real estate or development experience is an asset).

• CPA designation or working toward it is considered a plus.

Junior Accountant – Real Estate Development

North York, ON (On-site)

$60,000- $70,000+bouns/ benefits

Our client, a well-established real estate development firm in North Toronto is seeking a Junior Accountant to join their Development Accounting team. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this position offers the opportunity to support a dynamic and growing portfolio of residential and commercial development projects.

This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is eager to grow within the real estate industry. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing a high volume of transactions across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform full-cycle accounting tasks including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and intercompany reconciliations
• Track deposits, loan balances, letters of credit, and project disbursements
• Maintain accurate and timely financial records in compliance with Canadian GAAP and company policies
• Prepare HST returns on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis
• Support internal and external cash flow processing, including cash calls and back charges
• Assist with audit preparation and ad-hoc reporting as needed
• Use accounting systems (e.g., NewStar or similar) to manage project-level financial data

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• 1–2+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (real estate or development experience is an asset)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-first approach
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• CPA designation or working toward it is considered a plus
