Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a college diploma or university degree with a focus in accounting.
  • Prior experience in a multi-client environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Sales Tax regulations and preparing and filing VAT returns.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in accounts payable and receivable processes including invoice verification.
  • Prepare month-end closing entries and general journal entries for financial reporting.
  • Assist in government remittance calculations and compliance reporting.

We are looking for a Jr accountant at TMF Group

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable - vendor invoices and employee expenses – assist in verifying appropriate approvals in accordance with Client policy, clerical accuracy verification of extensions, tax calculations, foreign exchange rates, etc.
  • Assist in the coding of all AP and employee expenses based on Client Chart of Accounts & posting to the accounting system.
  • Assist in the processing of regular cheque runs or electronic payments to ensure prompt payment based on due dates
  • Accounts Receivable – assist in generating and issuing client invoices to Canadian or Intercompany customers including verification of tax calculation where applicable
  • Monthly Closing – assist in the preparation of month end closing entries including full accrual accounting providing general journal entries for Canadian Fixed Asset depreciation (if & when applicable), amortization of prepaid expenses, bank entries and bank reconciliations, payroll and other liability accruals, etc., for Financial Reporting to both Parent & Subsidiary.
  • Government Remittances – assist in the calculation and preparation GST/HST, PST, QST, employee with holdings, EHT, WCB, & other applicable compliance reporting/filing for all jurisdictions and the reconciliation of the accounts
  • Interacting with clients and other stakeholders, including suppliers, CRA and other internal TMF departments when required
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Requirements

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • Successful completion of a college diploma or university degree with a focus in accounting
  • Advanced Excel knowledge, with experience in spreadsheet development and maintenance
  • Prior experience working in a multi-client environment is an asset
  • Exposure to accounting software packages (QuickBooks, Netsuite, SAP) is an asset
  • Experience in preparation of detailed analysis and reconciliations an asset
  • Knowledge of Sales Tax regulations and preparing and filing VAT returns
