Job summary

Redpath Canada Limited is seeking a Jumbo Operator for a remote camp in Northern Quebec. The role involves setting up and operating jumbo drills, drilling and blasting in a safe manner, and adhering to ground support plans and site standards.

Travel to regional sites is required with both surface and underground coordination. The position requires extensive experience with jumbo rigs, plus expertise reading mine plans and following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience with Jumbo
• 1 year experience on a scoop
• 1 year experience installing services
• 1 year experience loading and blasting rounds

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect and wash down workspace; check for misfires
• Read and follow ground support plans and headings
• Conduct face prep prior to drilling rounds
• Read and follow survey memos and grade offsets
• Read and follow engineered drill profiles (site standards)
• Perform minor repairs (shanks, couplings, hoses)
• Complete daily equipment checklists and report to supervisor
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and equipment

Location: Northern Quebec (100km south of Deception Bay, 1800km north of Montreal Canada)

Rotation: 14 days on, 14 days off

Shifts: 12 hours

Travel : Flights to and from Val d'Or, Montreal, Quebec City, Nunavik and La Grande Rivière

Job Summary

The primary role of a Jumbo Operator is to set up and operate a single or multiple boom jumbo, to drill and blast in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

General:

• Visually inspect and wash down the working area, checking for misfires
• The ability to read and understand the ground support management plan and carry a copy of the current heading ground support plan into the heading.
• Conduct face prep prior to drilling rounds
• Ability to read and follow survey memos, mark up offsets line and grade.
• Ability to read and follow engineered drill profiles (Approved site standards)
• Perform minor repairs, such as changing shanks, couplings and hoses.
• Complete daily checklists/pre-starts on equipment and submit written and verbal reports to supervisor.
• Maintain working area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner
• Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage

• Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
• Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
• Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
• Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
• Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

• 3 years or more experience with Jumbo
• 1 year of experience on a scoop
• 1 year of experience installing services
• 1 year of experience loading and blasting rounds.

Knowledge Required

• Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.
• Demonstrate how to turn corners using offsets
• Ability to multi task and work effectively
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
• Respectful of cultural differences
