Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking an experienced Jumbo Operator for the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia.

The role involves high-speed development using a multi-boom jumbo, following drill/blast patterns while meeting safety standards and deadlines to maximize productivity and profitability. Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency.
• 10-15 years’ experience in underground hard rock mining preferred.
• Demonstrated Jumbo Operator experience with frontline capacity.
• Competent in bolt, mesh and boring with a twin boom jumbo.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow survey plans to determine hole location, spacing, depth and angle.
• Assess ground conditions and perform scaling and washing-down face.
• Operate as part of a team with engineers, geologists, surveyors, and maintenance.
• Develop rounds to meet safety act, regulations and production targets.
• Install ground support per ground control plan.
• Maintain high quality work and ensure all controls are used.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained and prechecks completed.
• Document daily shift reports and reports of issues.
• Report problems to Shift Supervisor promptly.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff and client.
• Comply with PPE requirements and safety rules.
• Assist with other mine services and mucking as required.

The Opportunity:

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has new exciting opportunities for an experienced Jumbo Operator at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Working a FIFO rotation on an even time roster.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Jumbo Operator is responsible for providing efficient high-speed development using a multi-boom jumbo following specific drill/blast designed patterns while meeting safety standards, targets and deadlines to maximize productivity and profitability.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Follow survey plans to determine location, spacing, depth and angle of holes
• Assess ground conditions at the work area, sounding, scaling and washing-down face
• Work as part of a team with engineers, geologists, surveyors, operations and maintenance
• Boring of development rounds to desired profile and in accordance with the mine’s safety act and regulations
• Installation of ground support in accordance with ground control management plan
• Ensure that work quality is high and that all controls are used and adhered to
• Ensure that equipment is used in accordance with training provided
• Ensure that the equipment used is always maintained in good operating condition
• Document reports detailing work performed, problems diagnosed, prechecks on all equipment and machinery used in the day and all other required shift paperwork
• Immediately report problems/failures that may impact the team, or the company, to your Shift Supervisor
• Maintain and demonstrate a professional and courteous relationship with employees, subcontractors, the client and all other personnel
• Practice good general housekeeping in the work area and equipment
• Maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experiences an asset
• Understand and comply with all PPE requirements in work areas
• Demonstrate commitment to all mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of others
• Assist with other aspects of the operation such as mine services and mucking, when required
• Other duties may be assigned by your supervisor, as required

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
• Preferred; 10-15 years’ experience in underground hard rock mining
• Demonstrated experience in a Jumbo Operator role, preference to those currently operating in a frontline operator capacity
• Competent in bolt, mesh and boring with a twin boom split feed jumbo
• The ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism and self-motivation is essential
• Proven ability to recognize and follow verbal and written instructions
• Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met

Work Conditions

• Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), on an even time roster with a minimum of 12-hour days, working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
• Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
• Extreme weather conditions
• Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high

The rate for this position is $122.00 per hour.
