Job summary

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking an Underground Concrete Transmixer (Agi) Operator for the Red Chris Mine in Northern British Columbia.

This FIFO role follows a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation, reporting to the Shift Supervisor, responsible for safe operation of underground concrete mixing and delivery equipment in support of development and construction activities. This role emphasizes quality shotcrete application, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with the team

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Underground experience preferred (1 year).
  • Experience operating an Agi or Transmixer underground.
  • Ability to perform physical labour for setup and tear-down of shotcrete equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong radio communications and general safety awareness.
  • Willingness to learn shotcrete processes and machine operation.
  • Commitment to following client and company safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain underground transmixer/shootcrete equipment.
  • Ensure equipment hoses and pumps are cleaned, inspected and prepared for shifts.
  • Assist with shotcrete mix designs and material preparation.
  • Document work performed, log batches and QA/QC related records.
  • Maintain housekeeping and clean equipment to a high standard.
  • Follow all safety rules and PPE requirements.
  • Report problems to the Shift Supervisor promptly.
  • Support construction and infrastructure activities as required.

The Opportunity

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking experienced Underground Concrete Transmixer (Agi) Operators to join our team at the Red Chris Mine in Northern British Columbia.

This is a FIFO position operating on a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor or designate, the Underground Concrete Transmixer (Agi) Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of underground concrete mixing and delivery equipment in support of development and construction activities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring quality shotcrete application and underground infrastructure construction while maintaining Barminco's commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Demonstrate commitment to adhere to all Mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of others
  • Operate equipment such as transmixer, ensuring equipment, hoses and pump are thoroughly cleaned properly, maintained and inspected at the beginning and end of each shift and during the shift as required
  • Willingness to learn how a shotcrete pump works, various shotcrete mix designs and their impact on the pump.
  • Maclean, and/or Normet shotcrete machine experience would be a large advantage.
  • Know and perform the proper methods of material preparation and mixing to consistently mix and maintain the required mixture proportions and ratios
  • Assist in hydro-scaling heading prior to application of shotcrete to remove dust and loose an ensure proper shotcrete adherence.
  • Responsible for proper storage, care, and accessibility of the materials, admix, chemicals etc.
  • Immediately report problems/failures that may impact the team, or the company, to your Shift Supervisor
  • Some infrastructure work as required; pouring concrete pads for substations or pump station, assist with construction and spraying bulkhead walls or vent walls.
  • Document reports detailing work performed, for example: log batches, areas sprayed and QA/QC performed (core panels sprayed, cube samples taken, slump measurements…etc)
  • Practice good general housekeeping, clean and maintain equipment to a high standard.
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience required
  • Understand and comply with all PPE requirements in work areas
  • Other duties may be assigned by your supervisor, as required
Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Preferred; 1 years of underground experience
  • Previous experience operating an Agi or Transmixer in an underground setting
  • Perform physical labour for the set-up and tear-down of shotcrete equipment in accordance with client and company standards
  • Perform other related work as assigned for underground development mining
  • The ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism and self-motivation is essential
  • Proven ability to recognize and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
  • Must have good radio etiquette and strong communications skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow
Work Conditions
  • Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off – working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
  • Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
  • Extreme weather conditions
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
