Job description

Jr Realtime Digital Control System Software/Systems Designer

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups, providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry in Canada and globally for over 60 years. We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology.

Location – Mississauga, ON

Your role within the team:
  • Prepare requirements and develop tools for test/development systems for safety-critical software production.
  • Perform software engineering tasks including requirements specification, design, coding, verification, testing, and documentation.
  • Evaluate computer vendor products and develop processes for their integration into our software design, development, and V&V processes.
  • Assist in planning activities related to design, verification, and testing of safety, control, and monitoring systems.
  • Help prepare work-scopes, design and quality requirements, and plans for system development stages.
  • Participate in the concept design of safety and control computer systems to define requirements, architecture, technologies, and evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Develop guides and procedures aligned with international standards for quality software in the nuclear industry.
  • Create software and scripts using various programming languages and tools, including IEC 61131-3 languages, C, C++, VHDL, and others.
  • Develop test scripts using in-house scripting languages.
  • Maintain and update engineering design documents, including requirements specifications and manuals.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines, suppliers, and divisions within the company.
  • Deliver technical presentations effectively.
  • Manage workload, prioritize tasks, and report progress to meet project goals.
